Our Story

A little history and Pastor Luis' testimony...

I was born in Mexico City, came to the USA in 1958 at age 6, was saved at age 21 (raised Catholic, never knew the Lord). At age 24, I met my wife Penny, she was saved shortly thereafter, and we married on August 13, 1977, together over 46 years now. Penny is a wonderful Christian woman, great wife, mom & grandma. She loves the Lord and the Word and is busy in women’s studies and fellowship. We have 3 children, all married, and 12 grandchildren of whom our oldest is in heaven.  A musician since age 9, I played professionally for many years in a worldly life of sin & darkness before coming to the Lord. I gave up however secular music and performances in 1987 when we moved to Oregon.

I started my service to the Lord by playing on the worship team of a local church in 1988. A few years later, after hearing messages from Pastor Chuck Smith and other Calvary Chapel teachers on the End Times, my life took a turn. I started to get serious about studying the Word and after some years was asked to serve as an elder in another Medford area church.

In the year 2000, I began teaching through the Bible and leading worship in our home for a weekly gathering of mixed couples in Spanish and English. Joe and Anita Jimenez ministered and served with us from the start. Pastor Joe and Anita eventually moved to serve in North Carolina and in April of 2022, Pastor Joe went to be with the Lord.  In 2020 Pastor Matt McCollum joined the leadership team as co-pastor after 29 years of missionary service to Central America and Africa.  He too was bilingual and had been instrumental in our initial growth during an extended visit from the mission field.

Our little spiritual family was steadily growing and in 2003 we became a bilingual church incorporated as Agua Viva Christian Fellowship. In 2008 (?) we affiliated officially with Calvary Chapel with which we had always had our closest ties.  We also changed our name to Calvary Chapel Medford Oregon, but we have been teaching and loving our people in the same way since that first home fellowship meeting so long ago!

We here at CCMO love our Lord Jesus Christ and would love to share Him with you. Our church family is truly a church FAMILY and we serve and love one another sincerely. We welcome your participation in our family knowing that here are many ways to serve the Lord as the Body of Christ made up of many members with many giftings! (1 Corinthians 12:12) (Romans 12:3-8)

In His Service,

Pastor Luis J Jauregui Jr.

What's ahead...

We plan to keep our hand to the plow of the Biblical vision the Lord has given us and see what fruit may come for his glory!

"The vision of Calvary Chapel Medford is to create a community of authentic followers of Christ, growing in their knowledge of God, and being transformed by the life changing reality of the gospel, so that we can impact our city and the world."
